Bought it through Amazon Subscribe and Save
After trying Seventh Generation Dishwashing Liquid in Lavender Scent, I was so impressed by the company that I decided to buy 3 large containers of Seventh Generation Natural Citrus Scent Laundry Detergent through Amazon Subscribe and Save. I saved 15% by requesting it to be delivered every 6 months, and got free shipping as well, as the total was over $25. For three containers it was $31.44. The price per ounce came to a little under 7 cents per ounce, for those who price groceries in that way. The bottles say that they do 50 loads each, but I used less than the recommended amount of detergent, so I am guessing that I will get 75+ loads out of one bottle, or 225+ loads out of the whole shipment, bringing it to 13 cents per load. I'm also a big fan of using Amazon Subscribe and Save because then I don't have to lug heavy detergent around in the grocery store, into the car, and then into the house. In addition to that, the regular grocery store that I shop at does not carry Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent, so I would have to make a separate stop.
Not petroleum based
Environmentally Seventh Generation Detergent is superior because it is not petroleum based. It is made from vegetable based surfactants (veggie oil) which are much better for the environment than using the limited oil that must be shipped in from afar. It is also not tested on animals.
Fresh Real Scent
In opening the bottle, I noticed the fresh real scent. I was once addicted to Downy Simple Pleasures, but now those scents make me gag. Once you get used to real essential oil scents, you can never go back to the artifical ones. Real essential oils do not leave chemical residue on your clothing either.
How the product worked
Our family is tough on laundry - we have high demands of our washer and detergent! I did a test load with my daughter's cloth diapers, my husband's work pants that he gets filthy with construction grime, and the cleaning cloths that I use instead of paper towels. Everything came out clean! It was great! I even used less detergent than recommended. This product works better than other harsh chemicals that I had been using prior! I am amazed.
High efficiency compatible
This product is compatible with High Efficiency washers as well. Overall, this is a great product. The only thing I would change about it is that it comes in a pour-bottle like a milk jug. I prefer the kind that has the spout at the bottom, I keep my detergent on a shelf above my washer and with the spout and button at the bottom of the bottle I can just put detergent directly into my washer without taking out and putting away a heavy bottle. But this downside is hardly anything compared to this superior product! I would recommend it to everyone.
