When you have a laundry that is cluttered with too many items, it is time to make some shelving to get things organized. You can either build the shelves yourself or you can find some at a local department store. Once you have the shelves up, put items into boxes and label them so that you know what is in each one. You can then cover the shelves with a decorative blanket or sheet so everything will look nice. When you store things this way in a laundry you will make the best use of your space. It will make it look bigger because there are not so many things to look at. With the sheets or blankets covering the shelving you can color coordinate your room also.
In order to keep your detergents and other cleaning items in order it is a good idea to get a rolling cart. Always remember that it needs to be cleaned on a regular basis, just as your washer and dryer need to be too.
Use hooks in the wall to hang different things like coats and umbrellas if you keep them in your laundry room. You can also hang other items from the hooks too. When you keep things up off the floor you will find that your room will look more organized.
It is also nice to have some carpeting in the laundry room, especially during the colder months. It is much easier to walk on and your feet will not get as cold. You don't have to have wall to wall carpeting and some people just use small rugs in different places, especially in front of the washer and dryer.
Another great idea for a laundry is to make use of the back of the door to it. Hang a shoe rack or other type of storage unit over the back. You will be able to put all kinds of things in it and they will stay organized.
Organizing your laundry room is important. When there is less clutter in the room you will feel better able to tackle the tasks at hand. Take a little time to get yours in tip top condition and see how much better it will make you feel. It will no longer be the room that you want to avoid the most. In fact, it might be one of the nicest if you decorate it and keep it clean.
