Lauren Alaina and Scott McCreery Continue American Idol Climb!

Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery continue their repsective climb in pursuit of the "American Idol" title. In fact, Alaina blasted an incredible rendition of the Miley Cyrus song "The Climb" as the top 8 took the stage on Idol tonight.

Alaina received a standing ovation after her performance and looks to be the odds on favorite after the early exit of Pia Toscano last week. With the exception of Toscano, Alaina has been perhaps the most consistent performer on a weekly basis on "American Idol" this season. She certainly shined as "American Idol" went to the movies with movie theme songs. If it's possible that Alaina could ascend her stock any higher, she certainly accomplished that on "American Idol" in the final 8.

Scotty McCreery also pounced on another country song when he performed "I Cross My Heart" by George Strait.
The McCreery rendition received high marks from the judges, even prompting Randy Jackson to say "a star is born" on the "American Idol" stage.

The two aspiring country singers could perhaps be the best 1-2 punch "American Idol" has ever seen in that genre. Alaina might have the ability to cross over but it appears her most natural route is country post Idol. McCreery doesn't fit anywhere besides country but he fits quite well. Randy Jackson said his motto was "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" in regards to the McCreery country performances week in and week out.

It appears McCreery and Alaina will stick around on "American Idol" for a few more weeks unless America just stops voting for the duo. Country music fans are probably enjoying this ride from both artists who appear to be destined for big things in the Music City, USA.

Can either win? I predicted early on that Alaina would take home the top honors. McCreery seems like a wild card that might not earn enough votes from the broader audience in the scheme of things-but both are equally impressive and certainly are great fits for country music and The Grand Ole Opry in the future.

McCreery and Alaina both seem more at ease on stage than many of the other contestants. Both always seem very natural with their vocals and their performances always leave the audience standing for ovations. So it's quite possible the country duo could comprise the final two when all is said and done--if they don't steal votes from one another!

Scotty will win. Not all people vote for the best singer after all. James Durbin would have won if that were the case. The young girls like Scotty and will vote 600 times for him! They are both ok and seem nice so whoever is fine.

Lauren defintely came back Wed. night and the judges all said so. Steven Tyler keeps saying how pure her voice is when she sings and she did a great job on both songs.

I along with many of my friends are shocked that Haley is in the Top 3 as of next week. Just read just yesterday after voting had expired that she was going out and all the reasons given for why she should be out provided to us by the American Idol 2011 website. Haley may have improved, but she is no American Idol. When a contestant at this late date sings two songs in the last two weeks that she was criticized for by Jennifer and Haley decides to be argumentative about it and she said she would have chosen them anyway. Along with her hateful looks and laughing the night Pia was eliminated along with her mouth that should get her in trouble with all the bleaks during the shows. She in her own mind acts like she has this contest wrapped up.
Am a Lauren fan for winning, but Scotty would be fine as my second choice as the next American Idol 2011.

Where I live, this show will only be aired tonight, so I don't know if you're right or not, but Lauren really didn't do as good a job as the judges thought she did with last week's song. She had no connection to the lyrics at all and that showed in her face and eyes. I hope she did better this week with connecting to the song. As for Scott - he's got that connection every time and even if neither of them get to the top 2 spots, the Grand Ole Opery will be banging on their doors the moment they're eliminated.
