What do super colliders, punctuation, and the fall of America have in common? Well, Laurie Anderson, of course!

Anderson, experimental artist, will open BAM's Next Wave Festival on Sept. 21 with her play, "Delusions." The play centers on dead relatives, punctuation, ghost ships, mysteries, and what else, elves.

The play is Anderson's examination of her own dreams. And it appears to be mind-bending to say the very least. In fact, it seems like elements from the last 30 years of her career can all be found tucked neatly inside this distorted little play.

When we say little play, we actually mean 20 little plays. Confused? Anderson wanted to convey her message in one overall play consisting of many miniature plays. The construction is much like a dream within a dream in which you aren't sure if you are having an illusion or one very convoluted realistic experience.

Music plays a very big part in "Delusions" as well. Anderson, also a musician and married to legend Lou Reed, includes folk music, jazz, electronic violins, and Tibetan temple horns as the soundtrack to this surreal stage experience. You'll also get an eyeful of unique animations and film sequences by Anderson herself.

"Delusions" runs at BAM Harvey Theater at 651 Fulton Street at Rockwell Place in Fort Greene Sept. 21-25, Sept. 28-30, and Oct. 1-2 at 7:30 p.m. Additional performances on Sept. 26 and Oct. 3 at will be at 3 p.m. Tickets range from $20-$60.
