Lava Lamp

nutuba
Sometimes I miss those days when I
Could dream about my future years
Big plans, big hopes, I'd think Big Sky
Thoughts. Not afraid -- I had no fears.

And life seemed like a lava lamp
Both unpredictable and fun,
But now my plans I must revamp
My carefree days I think are done.

I once had hoped to see the world
To travel after I retire
My flag of dreams won't be unfurled
My plans are bogged down in the mire.

And yet ... a man I am, with life!
I still have things that I can do
I shan't complain (we all have strife)
And best of all, I still have you.

I'll sing unto the hills this day
And smile and praise God anyway
With gratitude to Him I'll pray
Oh thank you Lord, to Him I'll say.

Lovely poem, and I'm glad that you aren't able to write something sad and depressing :)

Somewhere in my basement is an original lava lamp from the '70s, made of glass! I wonder how much it's worth now?
