I am a huge fan of the show Law and Order, so when I came across the pc game, Law and Order Dark Obsession, I just had to try it.

You start out as a male detective standing near a dead body. You search the area for clues and enter them into your database. Some of the items you look at and pick up can be used throughout the game to help get into places. One is used to get through a barb wired fence in the electrical area. You also travel to different places and homes to ask questions to different people. When asking the question you have to figure out which emotion you will use. If you choose the wrong one the other person will get upset and you get no where in getting the information from them. If you choose the correct one the story line plays out and you get a new piece to the puzzle. With each new clue that you uncover the mystery gets bigger, as to where each character fits into the puzzle.

There are so many different steps in solving the crime; from entering the data into your pda, gathering information, putting it in the crime profiler at your desk and more. I loved visiting each office also; you get to talk to the lady in the morgue who does autopsies and find clues there. You also get to speak several times to the research and surveillance teams. Every time you put in a clue into your pda they run a check on it and they call you on your cell to tell you when they are done reviewing the evidence that you sent to them.

You do get tons of hints, if you need them, which I did. I found myself stuck in many places and not sure where to go to next. It is a challenge and if I didn't have the hints I don't think I would have ever found out who was the murder.

The graphics are great and look almost as you would expect a cartoon version of Law and Order to look like. The audio is great also. You hear the conversations when you ask suspects questions and of course they have the Law and Order theme in the background when you first go to a new location.

I do wish it had more alternative options and having different parts where different people could be the murderer, but all in all it is a very interesting game.

I love to read and even more love to write. If there is something to learn out there I am up to my elbows in it. Researching just about everything is only one of my many interests.  View profile
