Law and Order: Special Victims Unit

Law and Order: Special Victims Unit is an NBC series that is a part of the "Law and Order" Series. This part of Law and Order concentrates on sexually based crimes and the detectives that investigate these types of crimes. This series is especially harsh and emotional. This series deals with crimes that we do not like to think happen everyday. In this series you see how the severity of these crimes wears at the detectives who work on them.

Law and Order Special Victims Unit, also known as SVU is in its eighth season, and is currently one of the highest rated series in the Law and Order franchise. This series is based out of New York, and follows Detective Elliot Stabler and his partner Olivia Benson along with detectives John Munch, and Fin Tutuola as they set out to solve crimes such as rape, child abuse, and pedophilia.

Detective Elliot Stabler is played by Christopher Meloni. Meloni was nominated for his first Emmy this year for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He is well known for a diverse career in television, movies and theater. You may have seen him in "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle", "Wet Hot American Summer", and "Runaway Bride." Elliot Stabler's partner Olivia Benson is played by Mariska Hargitay. Hargitay won an Emmy in 2006 for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Olivia Benson. She has had many roles on televisions shows such as, ER, Seinfeld, and Can't Hurry Love.

The SVU unit is overseen by Captain Donald Cragen who is played by Dan Florek who was a member of the original Law and Order cast. The other two detectives are John Munch played by Richard Belzer known for his role in the show "Homicide Life on the Streets" and Fin Tutuola who is played by rapper Ice-T.

Law and Order Special Victims Unit airs on NBC at 10/9c on Tuesday evenings. You can also catch re-runs on USA and TNT. If you lucky you will catch a re-run marathon, if you have nothing to do believe me your afternoon can go by fast watching this show! Law and Order Special Victims Unit is a series that is really worth checking out. The plots are very interesting and the show will draw you in. You will find yourself sympathizing with the characters and the detectives as they try and solve these heinous crimes and keep a normal life outside of work.
