Lawn Game Review: Top Toss by Fundex

Ladderball Clone with a Twist

Arthur Kirk
Are you looking for a fun lawn game for your next cookout, or just something fun to play outdoors with friends during the spring and summer? Topp Toss by Fundex will meet your needs for both of these occassions. Top Toss is a clone of another popular game that is on the market known as Ladder Ball or Bolo Toss. There are several differences with this game than those that helps set apart Topp Toss by Fundex from the competition out there. Part of the difference is a minor adjustment to the playing device, and the other is the quality of the product produced by Fundex.

Traditionally the game that Topp Toss By Fundex is based off of is known as bolo toss, ladder golf, or ladder ball. Most of the traditional versions of this game consist of three equal size scoring bars from top to bottom of the scoring tower. That is not the case with Topp Toss By Fundex though. The lowest rung is close to 50 percent larger than the top rung. This makes sense as the top rung will score you the most points if you wrap your bolo around it when playing Topp Toss by Fundex. The middle rung in Topp Toss by Fundex is about the same size that competing versions use on all three of their rungs. Similar to all versions of ladder ball, Top Toss By Fundex includes six bolos. If you need additional ones you can find them onsale at auction websites such as Ebay.

Many lawn games produced by Fundex, including Topp Toss by Fundex, are built in a more sturdy manner of construction than the ones made by their competition. The great thing about Top Toss by Fundex is that the frame for the game is actually constructed of steel. Too many of the other variations of Ladder Ball on the market are made of plastic pieces and come apart when you toss the bolos onto the scoring rungs. That is not the case with Topp Toss by Fundex. The only issue you might have at times with Top Toss by Fundex is the fact that sometimes the ground anchors will come out. The anchors are better than what come with competing products, but other factors affect how secure they are in the ground. Some of these factors include the top of dirty the anchors are inserted into and how hard the participants in the Top Toss by Fundex game toss their bolos.

The Top Toss by Fundex game is a fun game to use at cookouts, parties, and even tailgating events. It is quick to set up and with the sturdy steel frame you won't have to worry about the frame coming apart after every couple of tosses.

  • Top Toss by Fundex uses three different size rungs.
  • The top rung which scores the most points is the smallest of the three rungs, the bottom is largest.
  • There is only one frame included with Top Toss by Fundex.
The steel frame is a major improvement over other manufacturer's versions of this game that come with plastic frames, it is worth the increased cost of $30 for one game.
