Laws Banning Porn Production

Should the Government Ban the Production of Pornography?

Someone, please explain to me how pornography is different from any other motion picture, and why politicians would be just in making a law to censor a particular type of movie. As we all know, politicians are no strangers to the adult entertainment world. Both motion pictures and pornography have actors and actresses, they both portray a fictional world, a story line (no matter how crappy they may be), scripts (also terrible), soundtracks, and credits. They both also have all of the workings of a major motion picture: directors, studios, producers, editors and budgets. Even some of the content is the same, most adult movies have some type of sex scene and nudity, motion pictures just don't show quite as much of the nitty-gritty as pornography does.

There is an economic need for pornographic material. This should be obvious to a politician, being that adult entertainment industry is a billion dollar industry. Then making a law to ban porn would be killing a very large tax base. I would think that the amount of tax generated from these types of sales would be enormous. I'm sure that it pays some political head's salary. This is a simple concept, it would have a serious economic impact that the country can not currently sustain.

There is a societal need for this type of material as well. If there wasn't a demand for it, it wouldn't exist. Not only does this material potentially reduce the risk of sexually violent criminal acts by helping potential predators curb their need (people with a sex addiction that may become sexually violent have some benefit with curbing urges with pornography, other sexually violent predators such as rapists have a power addiction), but it also plays a part in saving some marriages that may have been long dead in the sex department. If it wasn't for this pornographic material, there would be no sex help and instructional videos, which come in handy if you're a little bored in the bedroom with your partner.

How do you define obscenity? From what I understand the Supreme Court had the same question. What is obscene to one person may not be obscene to another. Even some things that the majority of people consider to be just plain wrong, others enjoy. We, as a country, can not and should not be able to tell each other what they can or can not watch. We have the ability as adults to decide what we as individuals watch, and that should be our decision and ours alone.

I believe that pornography should be regulated. Any pornography containing or depicting children should be banned. Pornographic images of sexually violent crimes should not be allowed. Any scene involving animals should be illegal. I think that many of these are already laws, whether federally or state enforced. With regulations enforced there is no need to ban pornography and we can continue to enjoy the benefits of having it around.

How about the fact that porn is basically prostitution, which also illegal! They are getting paid,to have sex.It is not a "fantasy" world as you put it,it is real people, doing real things, for money. Those things really happen. It is people like you who need to wake up and stop glamorizing porn in your mind.
