The Reapers would put up eight with strong second and third period efforts while getting scoring from seven different skaters as my assistant in the booth K. Escobar pointed out. Dooley was the one that connected twice for the Reapers. These guys look tuff defending their title, can anyone stop them?
Maybe P. Mulroy and his Blanks could they had a big night wiping out an early three goal deficit and putting up eight. Mulroy had five goals and looks more determined then ever this season. Can he win his first scoring title in the Bay? Poll to come.
In upsetting news the Astoria Lightning have dropped out of play, moving on we were thinking of going back to the regular system in the playoffs and leaving behind the tier system as many of the teams in the league are strong. So far it's a 3-0 vote to go back to the regular system and we will finalize the decision by next weeks games.
As Astoria dropped out a scramble to get a game in for the Unit was on and Marine Park were able to get five heads down and fill the spot. It would be the game of the night.
Marine Park would jump out to a two goal lead but the Unit would answer back with three straight goals. With time winding down R. Abdelhamid was able to hit A. Morozov in front of the goal to tie the game at three with :47 left in regulation that lead into OT. With back and forth action in the extra session we looked like we would need a shoot-out to settle this one with Marine Park on the power play and only :10 left. A face-off out side the zone lead to a bouncing puck over the Park defense and Unit captain N. Divittorio would jump on it for a breakaway as he was able to rip one home while the Park goalie got a piece of it, it trickled on though for the game winner with :04 left. It was Divittorio second of the night. Great night of Hockey in the Bay as the weather was perfect for skating.
