Laziness and Everything About Being Lazy

Damon C Dennis
Is laziness as bad as people make it out to be? Or does it have its good moments?

How I see it is that there are two kinds of lazy people. The kind that are too lazy to work so they do nothing, and the kind that are too lazy to do hard work, so they find a way to make the work easy. These are the kind of people that create the technology that we have today. Are you too lazy to walk? Bike. Are you too lazy to ride a bike? Car. Are you too lazy to write? Keyboard. The list goes on and on and anyone can think of more examples.

Lazy has founded a town in Poland believe it or not. Even though being lazy didn't name it. The founders did name the town Lazy. In fact, there are many towns names Lazy in Poland. However, the pronunciation is different in their country.

In the Christian religion one of the Seven Deadly sins is 'Sloth', or 'Laziness' if you will. Also, the Bible says that it can lead to poverty. Proverbs 10:4.

Every internet scam plays on the weakness that people have of being lazy. "Do no work and get rich." If only, right?

Some one could be too lazy to do something good, but they can be even lazier and be too lazy to do something bad.

Lazy means: averse or disinclined to work, activity, or exertion; indolent

Some of the world's most famous people have honored the act of laziness.

"All paid jobs absorb and degrade the mind." - Aristotle

"Why work hard for something that doesn't satisfy." - Isaiah 55:2

"A great deal is harm is being done in the modern world by belief in the virtuousness of work." - Bertrand Russell

"Work's ok to pass the time of day, but it's a shaky way to make a living." - Bret Maverick

"The Morality of work is the Morality of slaves." - Bertrand Russell

"Whenever there is a hard job to be done I assign it to a lazy man; he is sure to find an easier way of doing it." - Walter Chrysler

"All paid jobs absorb and degrade the mind." - Aristotle

"Far from idleness being the root of all evil, it is rather the only true good." - Soren Kierkegaard

"Ambition is a poor excuse for not having sense enough to be lazy." - Charlie McCarthy

"Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired." - Jules Renard

And my personal belief, plus the inspiration for the entire article:

"I am the laziest person in the world. I invented all those things to save my self from toil." - Benjamin Franklin
