LC by Lauren Conrad for Kohls Reviewed

Lauren Conrad is one of young Hollywood's style stars. Often topping the best dressed lists, she has an acute sense of style that has unraveled before our eyes season after season on The Hills. Too bad her newest collection for Kohl's couldn't be further from her own personal style and unfortunately, anything but fashion forward. With an assortment consisting of tops, bottoms, and a few dresses, her line recently debuted in October in approximately 300 Kohl's stores nationwide and online through Kohls.com.

Most of the garments don't have the hanger appeal needed to make a saleable item. One would even think her line is misplaced on the sales floor, seeming more like a misses line than a contemporary lifestyle brand. Although pieces are moderately priced, most of the garments lack interest and special detailing to even justify its low budget price tag.

Her assortment of tops, include bland silhouettes in lack luster colors, like Seamless Camis in four colors ($22). Her cotton blend Dolman Sweaters seem dated as do the Asymmetrical Scoop Neck Jersey Striped Tees. Although the striped Boyfriend Cardigan ($44) might be one of the better pieces, looking like a cheaper version of a J. Crew classic.

Bottoms, consist of leggings (nothing groundbreaking there) as well as two types of jeans, a skinny and boyfriend jean ($39). The skinny is available is two washes and the boyfriend, featuring distressed details and cuffed hems is available in only one color.

There are some cute dresses in her collection that reflect the true California style. The printed babydoll ($60) dress and pleated tank dress ($50) are simple day dresses that can be accessorized appropriately. The brushstroke sheath dress ($50) may be one of her trendier pieces, featuring cap sleeves, an exposed back zipper, and an interesting print. The watercolor ruffled dress ($60) is also a piece worth investing, available in two great colors. It features a ruffled v-neck, an artistically interesting pattern and even comes included with its own black waist belt. Finally the strapless dress ($50) offers a sweetheart neckline and empire waistband. Available in black and blue, it also designed with an exposed back zipper and lightly padded bra cups for those girls in need.

You won't score LC's fashionable style by purchasing her own designs, but some pieces might be worth buying if you're willing to invest a little more cash and a little more creativity in the right accessories to brighten up her collection.
