LDL Online: Learning Disabilities Website Review
A Site that Promotes Understanding and Help to People with Learning Disorders
The site chosen to review is beneficial to all people interested in learning more about a learning disabled life style. LD Online's motto is that "we seek to help children and adults reach their full potential by providing accurate and up-to-date information and advice about learning disabilities and ADHD." This is done by a vast archive of expertly reviewed articles, columns, bulletin boards, forums and teaching tips. The majorities of people that frequent this website live, work or assist with someone that has a learning disability or ADHD. What LD Online does is provides the parents, friends, or teachers of the disabled with accurate, authoritative information about learning disabilities so they can obtain the support they need.
The best feature about the website is the expert advice and articles for educators working with special education students. Lesson plans and ideas for keeping distractions to a minimum can be found in links, opening a large database of fellow websites that also help and support the lives of the learning disabled. There is also a yellow pages feature, which gives a referral directory of professionals, schools, and products.
This site is informative if you know nothing, or everything about the minds of learning disabled and ADHD lives. Teachers are not often comfortable with the conditions some LD students have unless they are informed. This site not only provides information of each disability characteristic, but additional and current resources to provide a whole spectrum of knowledge for the learning disabled and ADHD community.
