Galter LifeCenter is definitely not your average neighborhood gym. Located in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood, Galter LifeCenter is part of the world-renown Swedish Hospital.

The LifeCenter's medical background is transparent and evident in the gym's philosophy: wellness through medical fitness. Located on the corner of Francisco and Foster Ave, Galter boasts two full-size pools, a complete free weight area, a variety of cardio machines, and steam rooms and saunas. Beyond the amenities the LifeCenter offers, it also hosts many instructional classes from Learn-to-Swim (one of the only adult programs in the city) to Advance Pilates.

Galter also offers complimentary health services such as massages and acupuncture. Since Galter was built on the ideology of rehabilitation and physical activity promotion, it seems to be gear more towards older adults. However, there has been a recent influx in membership of a younger crowd.
