Leading Conservative African American Newspaper Columnist Says Americans Should Consider Liberal Policies of Obama Before Electing Him

There are many opinions expressed by newspaper columnists about Democratic Presidential Candidate, Barack Obama-some positive some negative. One conservative African American newspaper columnist believes it is about time to not focus on the color of Obama's skin but his policies, and Ken Blackwell, the former Republican Secretary of State in Ohio and candidate for governor in 2007, believes if people do they will see the liberal Obama would not be the best person to President of the United States. Ken Blackwell is a columnist for the New York Sun.

In his column, Blackwell noted that in the Presidential election in November Americans will either elect the first African American President, the first woman, or the first man to be older than 70 when elected. He says it is not important to talk about skin color or gender when choosing a President, but it is important to consider issues and where candidates stand. For that reason, he believes Americans should take a closer look at Illinois Senator Barack Obama before they consider choosing him to be the leader of the free world.

He says that while some believe Obama to be the next John Kennedy, he is instead the next George McGovern. Blackwell believes that Obama is not the best choice to be President, because he is the most liberal member of the United States Senate, even more liberal than Hillary Clinton or Ted Kennedy. He believes he holds dangerous views about foreign policy and that his only idea for every domestic problem is to raise taxes.

Blackwell notes that Walter Mondale as a presidential candidate threatened to raise taxes and he lost. George McGovern promised to cut our military budget in a huge way, and he lost. Michael Dukakis offered a liberal domestic agenda, and he was not elected. He says Obama offers all of those ideas and is ahead in the polls because the press is treating the Presidential election as a beauty contest and is not focusing on issues.

The African American columnist notes that Obama wants to fix Social Security's problems by raising taxes. He wants to fix the problems of Medicare by raising taxes. He wants to provide prescription drugs to all who need them by raising taxes. He wants to provide free college by raising taxes. He wants to socialize medicine, and of course, raise taxes. Of course he wants to raise taxes on the rich. How does he define the rich? This writer for one would not be surprised if his definition of the rich would include those we would call middle class.

This writer believes that a Barack Obama as President, considering some of the things he has said on international matters, as leader of the free world, is downright terrifying. Judging by some of the comments of the conservative African American newspaper columnist, Ken Blackwell must agree. He notes that Obama once mentioned invading Pakistan, a country that has nuclear weapons. That does not sound like the idea of a man using sound judgment to me. He wants to meet without any preconditions with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who wants to destroy Israel and cause another holocaust. He wants to pledge to not ever use nuclear weapons against terrorists. Whether or not you think that is a good idea, that is a position that no president, whether a Democrat or a Republican, has taken since 1940. He also wants to meet, again without any preconditions, with Kim Jong II, the insane leader of North Korea, who would probably use nuclear weapons against the United States, if our country were not so strong militarily, who probably would also use them against South Korea, if that country did not give in to his will, if America were not around to protect it. Democrats who have worked in national security have condemned many of Obama's remarks.

Ken Blackwell, one of the nation's most respected conservative African American leaders also said in his column that Obama has said Christian leaders speaking against gay marriage and abortion have taken over Christianity. He notes that while Obama often speaks of his faith, he still criticizes others who stand for what they believe. He has also pledged to appoint Supreme Court Justices who will oppose any restrictions on abortion. He also supports partial birth abortion, which even many pro-abortion politicians oppose, and some have called murder.

Ken Blackwell said that he believes Obama is far out of the American mainstream, far to the left of even Hillary Clinton or Ted Kennedy. He said in a nuclear age Americans need to be certain they are electing a qualified person to be President of the United States.

Lest anyone think the analysis of Ken Blackwell is unique, let's also consider just a very few of the remarks in the conservative website, www.freerepublic.com, and its evaluation of some of the extreme views of Barack Obama.

Obama has said Israel should pay reparations to the Palestinians. That is reason enough I could never support him, as he is basically saying Israel should give money to terrorists, who have bombed the country for years. I am not saying the people of the country are terrorists, but the leaders are.

One of Barack Obama's leading supporters is George Soros, who wants to break the ties between American and Israel. That is a bad idea. Soros also wants America to give concessions to the terrorist group, Hamas, in the occupied West Bank of Israel.

It does not sound to me like Barack Obama is qualified to be the leader of the free world. We should all do more than just vote in this election. We should also write articles on the Internet about the election, on Associated Content and other websites, and we should write our opinions for local newspapers. You know for sure the leading liberals in the media will not let the real Barack Obama be known by election time, as Ken Blackwell has, but we can. Let's get the word out.
