Leading and Fighting in Zul`Aman Part 3: Nalorak

A Guide to a Tier 5 World of Warcraft Raiding Zone

Nalorak:

The trash:

While Akil`zon is into the instance and to the left Nalorak is off to the right, but once must be careful as once you go around the corner to the right you will see Nalorak next to a number of mobs, and going a few steps further will trigger the mobs to agro and run down to you. This is not a gauntlet like the eagle boss trash, but agro before you are ready for it=bad. Some of these mobs are axe throwers and will throw axes at all/many of the members of the raid. You will next face two bears, which along with all mobs before Nalorak can be sheeped (and I haven't seen the bears iced, but I believe they can be as well). You ignore the other two bears, and hug the wall to move on to the next group of mobs (a group of 4. CC 2, tank two). You then face two mounted bears, tank these separately, and have DPS focus on one. These mounted bears split at about 25%, where their riders come off, have DPS kill both rider and bear before moving onto the next. The last pull faced is two of these mounted bears and 2 other mobs. This last pull is the hardest necessary trash pull in the instance, do not get discouraged. CC 2 mobs (can be MC'd if necessary), tank the bears, fully kill them before moving onto the non-mounted trolls.

The boss fight:

Nalorak is very simple. He has two straightforward phases, and one other effect. He will charge random members in the raid, just have all non-melee spread out at medium+ range. He will return to the tanks after the charge. The tanks must advance together on top of each other to a predetermined spot (I use flares to mark the exact spot) and then use a /pull timer (such as that with deadly boss mods) to have the tanks run onto the spot. They move in this way to each absorb a cleave. Assign one tank to each phase. He will start in a troll phase, with medium melee damage, and has a bleed effect on the tank. He then switches to bear phase at which point the second tank has to taunt him off immediately, as the bear phase also has a bleed effect, and any tank who gets both bleed effects WILL die. The bear form does more melee DPS than troll form, so use your best equipped tank for this phase. That is all that is to this boss. Kill, collect loot, next boss.
