On first sight I thought this would be a great game. The concept was simple, the storyline on the website sounded great, and to top it off there was a free download of the software and the game play was also free to play. The price sounded wonderful but as in all things if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. After a very long download, I was finally ready to play. The game sounds were amazing, the graphics were awesome, and then the game started and I realized why it was free.

This is an extremely basic hack and slash game. There is no storyline in the game itself. You control a single hero who, once the game is over, goes back to level 1 for the next game. The only benefit to playing is that you receive a small amount of "influence points (IP)" and experience points which levels your account and allows for the use of "runes" to enhance very marginally the character you play next. You must purchase "Riot points" to receive some of the game materials, which is the norm for free-to-play (F2P) games.

The limited amount of game content, every time you play it is the SAME level, kills the fun of this game. Also, you are stuck playing either a random 5 person per team game or bringing 4 of your friends to make your team a 5 person team game. There are no variations in the game levels or team sizes and that make the game very limiting. The limitations on the game really subtract from the total experience.

Overall this is a fun game, but not for the size of the download and the time it takes to get used to the overall gameplay. If you are looking for a fun quick game that will get old fast this is the one. On the other hand, if you want a storyline avoid this game entirely.

Gameplay: 1 star (it is fun for a time, but the lack of variety in this game kills it quick)

Graphics: 2 stars (they are very Nintendoish. In fact they remind me of Zelda)

Sound: 4 stars (I normally don't like game music but this sound was very rich and well done)

Fun: 1 star (the game gets very old very quick but it is cute and good to kill an hour or so on)

Overall rating: 2 stars ( there just isn't enough content to make this a game worth buying)

***Star Rating system is based on 4 stars for best, 3 stars for great, 2 stars for fair, and 1 star for just okay. A no star rating means the game is horrible.

I respect your opinion but I think you got frustrated after feeding your opponents and getting raged at by your team.

    Joeseph,
Thank you for your critic. But you are wrong i played this game quite a bit before i reviewed it. If they are making new maps i haven't seen them. The only map change I was was for winter they dumped snow on the same map. As for summoner levels you may be right. I don't think i had musch in the runebox. I haven't played the game in the past 2 months since i got my new laptop. I should re-install it and do a supplemental review of new features. As for WoW, you are right i love that game. It has content and it has Quests, and it takes skill to PvP or PVE. LOL on the other hand held little challenge for me. It was a straight forward game assault the enemy camp and defend yours. We played a similar game when i was a child called capture the flag. Nice to see my childhood game turned into a video game though.

Clearly you hate games that lack a certain amount of skill. Games like WoW and EVE or any FPS these days are just button mashing, carrots on a stick. LoL actually takes some skill and know how to be good. While in WoW, a level 20 will almost always beat a level 10, in LoL, someone can be 3-5 levels behind an opponent and take them down depending on their skill level. I think you played the game once or twice and got frustrated because you weren't playing your champion the right way. And if you think of levels are a progression in a game like LoL, then look at your Summoner Level. It dictates the amount of runes in your rune book you can have and the summoner spells you have available to you. It's a leveling mechanic.

So next time, review a game that requires the killing of endless boars, like WoW. Leave the reviewing of games of skill to people who actually get them.

Oh, and to mention variety, they add new champions every two weeks and are constantly working on new maps. I'm pretty

First, only a child would sit here and continue to insult a person, so i really doubt you are 27. Second, the game hasn't been out since you were a kid. third, for me playability comes more from content then from the ability to play the same level a billion times. sorry those types of lack-luster games don't appeal to me in the long run. In my opinion the game is a great time filler but not something i would buy, continue to play religiously, or even compare to a real game such as WOW, EVE, or any of the newer graphical, time consuming, and addictive games such as C&C4, Splinter Cell, or even Modern warfare 2

then you need a new job...this is one of the most fun games I've ever played, I've been gaming ever since I was a kid and I'm 27...doesn't matter about it being the same level, re playability comes from different kinds of matchups...l2p noob

actually i still play from time to time. It is not that i don't like the game just that it doesn't have enough content for me to want to BUY it.

  • God5/15/2010

The author gave up before the game got real fun. Noob.

  • Thelgar3/8/2010

TY Kyle, I continue to play from time to time just to see the new content. I even play games I will never enjoy just to experience the content.

  • Kyle Hunt3/5/2010

Perhaps try the game out in a couple months when season one starts. Currently it's all about balencing the game before ranked gameplay starts.

  • Thelgar3/4/2010

    Kyle,

While i appreciate feedback and criticism, i have to disagree with you. i did do research and i still play the game from time to time. what i wrote was based on my observations of the game itself and the gameplay options. Yes it is a unique and fun game to play, no it is not one htat would keep my attention. Thank you for your time and for your comment. Keep them coming and next time i will try to include some back ground info on the genre as well. Ty
