Leaked Photos of Christina Aguilera Appeared at a Convenient Time - Coincidence?

Almost every day it seems a different celebrity has photos leaked that display their private parts or intimate acts. More often than not celebrities, such as Christina Aguilera, who have photos leaked are having a bad career year, promoting a recent project, or trying to distinguish themselves in a packed peer group. The coincidence of the timing leads one to question "racy" celebrity photos in general. Are they really leaked or a last chance ploy to grab or reestablish a career foot hold based on the buzz?

Many websites advertised the Christina Aguilera photos leaked in early December 2010 as "nude" and "racy." However, anyone who ever walked by a newsstand and flipped through key issues of Rolling Stone or Marie Claire with Aguilera on the cover has seen more of the songstress than the leaked pictures show as she appeared nude on Rolling Stone with a strategically placed guitar and nude while pregnant within the pages of Marie Claire.

In the most revealing photos of the leaked grouping, Aguilera is wearing a sheer shirt or pasties over her breasts and none of them show anything else. They are not racy or suggestive. They look to be exactly what Christina Aguilera's camp said they were, photos of potential outfits for her "not myself tonight" video shoot.

If anything is racy, it is the fact that these photos of Aguilera from early summer at the latest managed to find their way to a "hacker" about two weeks after Christina Aguilera's first motion picture, "Burlesque" hit the box office. At this point in time, Christina Aguilera is neither or a failure or a success. Her latest CD did not impress, but it didn't bomb. "Burlesque" isn't box office gold, but it has done passably in the US though it hasn't seemed to live up to the amount of marketing invested in the film.

Aguilera is struggling to reestablish herself in the industry at a popularity level equal to her Stripped heyday. So far this year she channeled Lady Gaga in a music video for a largely unsuccessful song, announced a divorce from her husband, was linked to Samantha Ronson for a heartbeat, and had these pictures leaked. In Christina Aguilera's case it seems as though these racy photos may have been a planned publicity stunt after several months of headline grabbing attempts. Considering that response to her photos has already died down and "Burlesque" is yesterday's news, Aguilera is going to have try a new angle to get the press attention and fan fervor she is seeking.
