Lean Pockets Four Cheese Pizza: Product Review

I can't imagine not being a pizza lover. Growing up on the outskirts of Philadelphia, one becomes a connaisseur of all things pizza. Five cheese pizza, Shrimp with Old Bay Seasoning Pizza, White pizza, Veggie pizza, Pizza burger, if it has the name pizza in it, I've probably tried it.

From thick crust to a delectable thin crust that only a few places do well, I'm always in search of the best pizza. Fresh from an authentic Italian pizzeria is usually my preferred choice. Thankfully, one is at the end of out street ready for me to make my favorite dinner, a phone call. However, they don't deliver and this body needs knee replacements so what to do? Homemade French bread pizza is one thing but the search for a quick frozen pizza fix that was low in calories was on.

Someone suggested that Lean Pockets should be tried. Lean Pockets come in a variety of Pizza flavors: Four Cheese Pizza, Pepperoni Pizza, Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza, Whole Grain Chicken Garlic White Pizza, Whole Grain Supreme Pizza. Having felt that the true test of a good pizzeria is based on the basic pizza the obvious place to start tasting was with the Four Cheese Pizza. According to the nutritional content panel, one serving contains 300 calories, 7 grams of fat, 20 milligrams of Cholesterol, 690 milligrams of Sodium, 45 grams of Carbohydrate, 15 grams of Protein.

Preparation of the Lean Pockets Four Cheese Pizza is easy. Slip off the plastic wrap which enclosed the Lean Pocket and discard. Cover the Lean Pocket with the microwaveable "crisping sleeve" and microwave.

My daughter is the one that convinced me to try the Lean Pockets Four Cheese Pizza. I think to honor her, as her words sum up my opinion so well, I will use them here. "They are 'ok', if you can get a coupon". A statement from a newly graduated, not overly picky college student. I was not overly impressed by the flavor of the sauce; however, the crust wasn't bad. I've been told this can vary depending on your microwave. The other problem that some complain of, is a cold center. In fairness to the Nestlé's company, maker of Lean Pockets, perhaps this is due to user error in following directions and attempting to eat immediately after heating or issues with the microwave. I experienced neither. The Lean Pockets wasn't horrible; it just wasn't great. I am willing to give one of the whole grain varieties a try, if I get a coupon. I was told they are better. I'll believe it, when I taste it.

Until that time, I think the best way for me to have lower calorie quick heating pizza is to have pizza delivered or picked up, cut smaller slices of the real thing, allow them to cool and wrap accordingly and re-heat at will. Oh, I'll keep looking. I'm told there are other tasty alternatives for meals in the freezer section of the super market.

Great review. I'm never been a lean pocket fan myself, even with a coupon. :)
