LeAnn Rimes' New Song "Crazy Women" is Causing Controversy

Julia Bodeeb
LeAnn Rimes has just released a new song called "Crazy Women." Is the song referring to the imbroglio LeAnn found herself in when she started dating Eddie Cibrian while he was still married and so was she? There has been much public commentary on her actions and there probably always will be. America is a very puritanical country in some ways.

LeAnn Rimes' New Single: "Crazy Women"

And now LeAnn has released a single that seems to throw salt in the wound of the public outcry when she started an affair with Eddie. It seems an odd choice for her to be writing about cheating husbands. Is Ms. Rimes making the point that she just doesn't care what anyone else thinks?

And after all, Ms. Rimes cheated on her husband too. She told US magazine "I understand why people are disappointed in me, especially since I grew up as America's sweetheart." Is the apology enough or is there just never an excuse for cheating?

"Crazy Women Lyrics"

"Crazy women, ex-wives and old girlfriends

Keep their crazy hidden till they're pushed off the deep end.

Oh no, God forgive them, they weren't born like this

Oh no, crazy women are made by crazy men."

New Upset to Eddie Cibrian's Ex-Wife

Eddie Cibrian's ex-wife, Brandi Glanville, has stated that a song by LeAnn Rimes about cheaters is "in poor taste," reports E!Online. She announced "When your cheating is the cause of a crazy woman's behavior, it's in poor taste to sing about it," notes the Daily Mail.

Ms. Glanville still seems angry at LeAnn. And she surely has a right to be angry. The concept of a sisterhood of women is deeply betrayed when someone is dating another woman's husband.

Does LeAnn Rimes Enjoy Controversy?

Is it cruel of Ms. Rimes to stir up the cheating controversy again? Brandi had previously announced that she did not have any idea that her husband was not faithful to their marriage. She obviously was very pained by her then husband's actions.

And while songs about cheating are quite common in country music, in light of the history Ms. Rimes has of dating a cheater, it is very odd that she would create a song on this theme. Is it a fondness for drama that was the motivation for this song?

"A Fun Song"

LeAnn told People magazine that the song is "just such a fun song to sing along and laugh with." I wonder if Eddie Ciprian feels that way? After all he was a cheating man in his marriage. And now his girlfriend is writing songs about cheating men.

Magazine Cover Controversy

There was recently a lot of controversy when LeAnn Rimes appeared on the cover of Shape magazine. Some readers felt it inappropriate to put a woman on the cover who had been involved with a married man who later divorced his wife. They felt that she wasn't a good role model for fitness or any aspect of life.

And yet despite all that chaos Ms. Rimes is touching on the topic of cheaters in her music. Perhaps she is just trying to figure out her thoughts on the concept of cheating. Does she wonder if her current relationship will last given the way it started?

You know I think everyone needs to move on from this issue. Everyone makes mistakes I know it isn't the best song to be singing about with whats happened but it is a great song and I don't think she meant any harm by it. I think everybody needs to give her a break and get off her back. Leann u are great and don't let the public get u down. Keep up the good work I wish you the best in life!

She has a beautiful voice, but her judgment isn't so great.

So sad that a supposed Christian has sunk that low.

I believe that you're somehow rewarded or punished by your actions. A relationship that begins by infidelity for the most part will end in another act of infidelity. Leann has to learn that love has to start with honesty. No divorce papers, no relationship. Women keep your hands off married men, and for men, grow up, stay committed or get a divorce.

Hmmm. "Crazy women made by crazy men"? Well, it can work the other way round. Speaking from personal experience!

Disappointed to read about this, I always liked LeAnn. However, I have NO patience for cheaters--or the men and women who enable them. If she really does think 'God ordained' the ordeal, as indicated by the previous poster, then that is even more reason to stop listening to her music and following her career. Crazy women, indeed.
