The FLY Fusion Pentop Computer is designed for students ages 10 and up to increase their productivity in school through integrated homework assistance and writing digitization. The new design has an improved hardware capabilities that lets you connect to your PC, has four times the memory of the previous model, new learning applications like a Spanish translator, MP3 Player, and music mixing capabilities.
The FLY Pentop Computer works though an optical scanner that can see what the users write on a special dot-matrix FLY paper. The pen has a built-in processor and communicates to the user through voice. The previous model can solve math problems, has a scheduler, and built-in games to entertain your teens while doing their homework. The pentop computer can be reloaded with different cartridges so you can add new games and applications.
A new feature on the FLY Fusion is the ability to digitize hand-written notes. Users can take down notes on the special FLY paper, and upload what they have written on their PC so they can organize and index their notes. No more lost notes, and its easier for students to share notes with anyone from their study group. The files from the Pentop computer can be converted to Microsoft Word files.
Chris Cocks, vice president of FLY and Grade School, LeapFrog, stated that, "Pen and paper are still integral to students' lives. They are taking notes, writing rough drafts and doing much of their homework by hand out of range of their home PC. No other computing platform is designed to integrate so seamlessly into their lives, and at such an affordable price. We are focused on offering an extensive library of applications that address the curricular pain points that give students the biggest headaches, and making FLY Fusion as easy to use as a graphing calculator."
The FLY Pentop Computer already has a variety of homework applications to guide students like Algebra, French and Spanish Translation, and an essay writing application.
The previous version of the FLY Pentop Computer retails for $69.99 while the new FLY Fusion Pentop Computer will retail for $79.99. The FLY Pentop applications range from $1.99 to $29.99.
