The game requires users to solve puzzles in order to build rides and other things that go along with an amusement park. It teaches children to follow directions because there are emergencies that pop up as the child is playing that need to be dealt with to keep the patrons happy. As children play, they are earning money to build the "Super Coaster." Keeping track of their money helps to teach math skills. The program also focuses on creativity, problem solving skills, and logic and reasoning skills.
Like many of the other new Leapster learning games, this one connects to the Leapster 2 system so that players can download extra games, activities and rewards online. The online system also gives parents detailed learning progress reports so they can see what skills their child has been working on while playing the game.
So far, I am pleased with this game. My six year old son enjoys playing with it and thinks it is fun. Sometimes, he has trouble with some of the activities but I think that is a good sign that it is challenging him enough to be learning. I believe this is a good game for children who have trouble making decisions because it requires them to make many choices in choosing which rides and booths to put in their park.
As with all Leapster games, it was easy to set up and get started playing right away. My son was able to get it going all by himself and started enjoying it immediately. While this game isn't teaching facts the way so some of the other themes do, it does teach important problem solving skills that can be applied to many different areas and be useful throughout their education. Overall, my son and I are happy that I purchased this product because it is a way for him to learn things while still having fun.
