Leapster Star Wars Jedi Math Learning Game Review

Leapster is a great educational product for children that helps making learning fun. There are tons of different games available for the Leapster system so deciding which to buy can be tricky. The Star Wars - Jedi Math Learning Game is a good option for children four to eight years old who need to work on their math skills. The game can be purchased for about $15.

The idea behind the game is that players join the Jedi Knights to save the galaxy from the evil Separtists. Players use math skills to steer their Starfighter through battle, unlock doors, and compete in lightsaber duals. The program teaches numbers, sequencing, addition, subtraction, and time telling.

Like all of the other games on the Leapster2 system, players can connect online to get extra activities and rewards to go along with the program. Parents can get a report of what their child has learned as they progress through the game.

The game is recommended for kids four to eight years old but I believe it could be used even earlier at a basic level to start teaching children their numbers. As kids get older, the questions get more difficult as the child progresses through the levels.

While this is not one of my sons favorite games for Leapster, he still enjoys it and plays it when I suggest he do so. He was not familiar with the Star Wars movies before I purchased this for him so that prior knowledge may help kids get more into the game.

I like the improvement I have seen in his math skills since he started playing it. The game gives a lot of repetition which really gives kids a chance to practice their skills. It also applies to the math to the real world, especially when learning to tell time on the analogue clocks. I'm hoping this game will help him to keep ahead of his math class in school. I always try to expose my kids to their school material before they come to it in class so they will be able to get the most out of their lessons. I really appreciate it that the math gets harder within each level so that he remains motivated to try in order to meet the goal for that section.

Overall, this game has been a good learning tool for my son. When he has trouble, he will come ask me for help and we work out the problems together so it creates bonding time as well.
