Goals of the Disabled Businesspersons Association
The Disabled Businesspersons Association has been working for more than 20 years to help disability employees find the resources that they need to develop their professional potential. They have also worked with vocational rehabilitation services, and businesses and government agencies to encourage changes in policies, perceptions of people with disabilities and to produce new opportunities for disabled jobs. This organization has been, and continues to be, a leading advocacy group for workers with disabilities.
Challenged American
One of the programs sponsored by Disabled Businesspersons Association is Challenged American. This program is located in San Diego and has been teaching kids and adults with disabilities how to sail since 1978. Their adaptive sailing program not only teaches people with disabilities a new skill, it also develops self-esteem and problem solving skills. If you are interested in participating in Challenged American you will need to contact them directly and make a reservation. Their current contact information can be found on the organization's official Web site.
