Learn Body Detoxification Using Dry Skin Brushing: An Astonishing Secret of Health

Body Detoxification that is Gentle and Cost Effective

Deborah Oakes, NPS
Body detoxification is becoming more important every day as our food, air, land and water are flooded with more toxic chemicals every year. However, body detoxification can leave you sick or uncomfortable with rashes and other symptoms.

Body detoxification that is a gentle, whole body cleanse, is the best way to detox. Skin brushing establishes skin function and youthful glow. It has been practiced for thousands of years by Japanese, ancient Greeks and Cherokee Indians.

Dry Skin Brushing is Effective because:

The skin is the largest organ of the body and it's functions are: respiration, excretion, blood and lymph circulation. Like lungs, skin absorbs oxygen and expels carbon dioxide and water vapor. Like kidneys, it excretes organic and saline matter.

The entire surface of the skin is impregnated with millions of sweat glands which constitute drainage where blood, via perspiration, purifies itself of poisonous waste it collects from cells. Because of the large area detoxing, dry skin brushing is gentle and helps:

*Blood Circulation: Skin covers 17 sq. feet of surface and when capillaries are fully dilated, it has 6 times the capillary surface area of lungs.
*Lymph Cleanse: Lymph vessels transport excess waste away from cells and to the bloodstream. Thus,
blood feeds the lymph and lymph feeds cells. Any blockage at the lymphatic level results in congestion
throughout the whole lymphatic system. Many feel this is the basis for lumps in breasts.
*Assists Exfoliation: Outer layers of skin cells accumulate on the surface creating leathery skin often seen with the elderly.
*Stimulates sweat and oil glands: Restores moist, supple skin.
*Removes cellulite and stretch marks: Better blood circulation restores skin to a more youthful glow.

How to Dry Skin Brush

Use a long-handled, natural bristle brush, loofa or rough towel. If skin is damp, it pulls, so brush skin when dry. Brush armpits before brushing chest. Brush from breastbone to armpit. Then brush the rest of the body towards the heart. This helps maximum lymph drainage by brushing according to how the lymph system drains.

Brush daily and if any uncomfortable symptom such as rash appear, brush every other day until it disappears. Dry brushing is done before or after showering. Some prefer brushing after showering to keep the brush clean.

Soak brush in soapy water about every six months or replace with a new one. For a healthy lifestyle with negligible cost and gentle body detoxification, dry skin brushing is a good choice.

LOL, Bobbi....the improvements might be so slow you'll never notice them. Also, you don't know what might have happened if you didn't dry brush. As long as your skin feels stimulated after, you are accomplishing something. Just enjoy that.

I've been dry brushing for a while now but sadly I don't see any improvement. I guess I'll blame my mother's legs for that one. LOL!
