Learn How to Commit the Dumbest Murder..

Watch " Snapped"

It seems that television is awash with crime shows. There is "Crime Story", "Crime Drama", "48 Hours", "City Confidential", and "Most Shocking Whatever", if you want the true stuff. And, then there is the "CSI" franchise, the "Law and Order" franchise," Hawaii Five-O", "The Closer", "Rizzoli and Isles", "White Collar", "Detroit" , and on and on ad nauseum.

But, if a person really wants to learn how to commit a dumb murder, there is no better tutorial program than "Snapped"!

I began watching "Snapped" when I was recuperating from brain surgery a little over 3 years ago and was not in that good of shape. So, it stood to reason that at that time I wasn't really too critical of the stories or the modes in which the crimes were committed.

It was only this year when I began to watch a new season of the gruesome vignettes that I realized how redundant these criminal methods were.

At one point in my college career, I took a course on detective mysteries. The instructor of the class often repeated that there were no perfect crimes and that most criminals made mistakes that were picked up by expert detectives like Sherlock Holmes, Easy Rawlins, and Travis McGee.

After watching a couple of seasons of "Snapped", I wouldn't think an expert would have to be involved.
Here is a good example.

In the early part of the 21st century a 34 year old fireman dies of what could only be described as natural causes. Everyone in the small town he is from is shocked, because he seemed like the picture of good health. His grieving widow (who had been carrying on an affair with another fireman in a neighboring town) decides to remarry within the year after his death.

A few years later the second husband dies of what can only be slotted as a natural death. The news of this death finds its way to the eyes of the mother of the first fireman, and she begins to become VERY suspicious.

She writes a letter to the mother of the second fireman and together these two women put together the gruesome and methodical facts of the murder of their two sons by the same woman, who had used arsenic or some such poison to kill their sons, and get the insurance money.

Now, the murders were pretty dumb, in that they were carried out in the same way, for the same motive by the same woman in neighboring towns. But, the fact that this murder was not connected by law enforcement, but was first connected by the mothers of the two men is pretty scary.

This is just a summary of one of the many stories a viewer will find upon watching '˜Snapped".

It is also a good example that proves my instructor in the detective mystery class was right. While experts (law enforcement) are supposed to know what is going on- that might not always be the case.

And, it also might help to remind you that Mother's Day isn't really that far off.
