Learn to Draw with Billy Bear.com

Susan Pettrone
If you have an aspiring artist in the family, billybear4kids.com,may be just the site for them. Not only does this site cater to the budding artist, but it teaches in steps how to draw such creatures as a frog, elephant, Halloween witch, and even a turtle.

I have been teaching kids for over 25 years now and have been thoroughly thrilled with the challenges this site offers for budding artists. Not only are the instructions easy to follow, but they range in difficulty so that even the most basic of artist can find satisfaction with their work and the more seasoned artist, the challenge he or she might need. The options on this website are many and varied and there are few who visit it that don't find something there that appeals to their learning level.

And that's not all! By clicking on the link under the heading "drawing sheets" entitled "MORE" you will find more than enough drawing lessons to keep even the squirmiest of children entertained while on vacation or while eating out at that nice restaurant.

I also like this section to use as a "filler" in the classroom. The sections copied off and left in a "busy box" are just enough work to fill some down time with any type of student, leaving time for the teacher to work with other students as well. In fact, these sheets would be a great project for a parent to undertake, copying them and putting them into a box for classroom use.

While this site is obviously geared for the under 10 set, but even I must admit it's fun to create the pictures using the wonderful step by step illustrations given as guides. The lessons are easy sure, but fun none the less and kids of all ages can enjoy what this site has to offer.

Some of our favorites are the dinosaur, Butterfly, moon man (whom my son says looks like a cartoon he watches on Nick kids) and "Ali gator" a wonderfully happy looking gator sure to make any child smile or actually any parent for that matter. This is one happy guy!

In addition to the great creatures to draw on the site Billy Bear even teaches you how to "draw hands" which I found to be one of the most interesting and useful parts of this site.

We can all agree, that hands have to be the hardest thing ever to draw! But with the instructions on this site, they are not only manageable but fun to draw too! Drawing hands is, in all honesty, an art lesson that might be a bit advanced for younger artists but fun none the less. This lesson however is one that would be a challenge for the more advanced student to undertake perhaps as an individual project.

This site is one best explored to fully appreciate all it offers and I invite you to check out these art lessons and see for yourself how much fun learning to draw can be when taught by "Billy Bear"!

Note: Billy bear offers much more than just drawing lesson but since this has proven to be such a great hit with my kiddo, we thought we'd share the drawing area of the site.....check out the whole site for lots more fun!
