Learn How to Make a Fall Wreath

Maddy Fox
Fall is here and with it comes the time to pull out our fall decorations or to make some new ones. The colors of fall are so breath taking with deep reds, earthy oranges and weathered golds popping all around us. Fall is a beautiful season to be celebrated and what could be a better way to announce the arrival of fall, than a large fall wreath hung on the front door to greet your guests or passersby. You can make your own fall wreath that requires little time and little money to create. Just follow the easy steps below.

Materials

Grapevine wreath (any size you like)
leaves of your choice
wide ribbon
pinecones
a hot glue gun and craft wire.

Directions

Lay some newspaper on to your work surface and gather all of the supplies you will need to make your harvest wreath. Take your grapevine wreath and place it in front of you. Arrange the leaves around the wreath in the design that you are happy with. Use the glue gun and glue on each leaf one at a time. Lay the pinecones on top of the leaves around the wreath to determine their position, than glue them on. Be careful not to add too many pinecones, you don't want to cover up all of the colorful leaves. Just add enough pinecones to accent the fall wreath. Now make a large bow with the wide ribbon. To attach the bow to the fall wreath, wrap some of the wire around the middle of the bow and twist it around the vines on the wreath. Now you will need to add a hook to the back of the fall wreath for hanging. Take about 4 to 5 inches of wire and make a loop with it. Attach it to the back of the wreath for a hanger. Your fall wreath is now ready to hang.

Tip: If you like you can also use acorns instead of pinecones or use a combination of both.

Making a fall wreath is quick, easy and fun to create and you will be able to use your fall wreath for many years to come. Just store it away in a plastic bag and make sure when you store it that nothing gets placed on top of your fall wreath. The following year, just retrieve your fall wreath from storage, remove it from the bag, fluff up the bow and it's ready to hang.

Hint: If you have any left over materials you can use them to create a fall center piece. Just set a large candle into a wide flat shaped bowl or on a plate and arrange the leaves, pinecones and acorns around the candle. It's that simple.
