Learn More About Recycled Cashmere

It is important to understand what cashmere is and why people want it. This is different from regular sheep's wool because it is finer, softer and 8 times warmer. The world's finest cashmere actually comes from Mongolia. Here you will find the Kashmir goat, which is where cashmere comes from: its fine inner coat that exists to protect it from the region's extremely cold winter temperatures. This wool is harvested in the winter whenever the goat is shedding it anyways.

Where To Find Old Cashmere

You should be able to easily locate old cashmere at your local thrift store or consignment shop. Oftentimes they will have gently worn cashmere sweaters for under $5.

Making Exquisite Baby Items From Recycled Cashmere

Anyone who is good at sewing can make wonderful baby items from old, adult-sized cashmere sweaters. This includes things like hats, booties, blankets and mittens. These items make wonderful gifts, especially for environmentally conscious parents. Even if you don't like to sew, you can still use cashmere to knit or crochet such items. They will definitely make some really soft, delicate items that a baby would enjoy.

Creating Items For Adults Too

Recycled cashmere can also be used to make socks, scarves, caps, gloves, mittens and quilt squares that adults would enjoy. Some have even gone so far as to make doggy sweaters. These things can be very warming on a brutally cold, winter day.

Making Money From Recycled Cashmere

Of course, if you really can't get into any of these crafts, you can always make some good money from recycled cashmere. Simply gather up any unwanted cashmere items and sell them on eBay.

You will find that anything that is made out of 100% cashmere will consistently sell well on eBay. This especially includes sweaters, scarves, vests, hats, blankets and gloves. If you are able to find vintage cashmere to sell, this will also bring you in quite a bit more money because it is both thicker and more luxurious than the cashmere of today, which is mass produced. So, you remember that $5 investment you made? Expect to be able to easily quadruple it on eBay.
