Learn to Play Guitar- the Best Free Sites!!

Online Sources for Learning Guitar

Heidi Adams
Someone once said don't believe everything you see. Now you don't have to. If you want to learn guitar basics, here are several sites that are free sources and great comprehensive learning tools for learning to play guitar. These sites also contain printable information and tab sheets to help you learn chords and music theory. I have found these sites to be very helpful in learning to understand more about music theory and why certain chords are meant to be played with other chords, etc. Also, some sites contain popular music tabs so you can learn to play some of the popular music that is out.

1. www.guitarsecrets.com - This site contains guitar exercises such as finger picking, stretching, and music theory with over 150 lessons available. It also contains some visual learning tools. This is a free site, however you do have an option to purchase these lessons on CD ROM.

2. www.guitartricks.com- This is another very good site with over 150 lessons. This site is different due to the fact that it offers individual lessons that are catered to certain genres of music. These include rock, blues, jazz, country, classical and many more.

3. www.learningguitareasy.com- This particular site is very helpful with learning finger placement, stroking the guitar strings to a 4/4 time and the easiest chords to learn chord changes with. This is for basic beginners. Once you learn this technique it will help you in all of your other learning adventures. This is truly the foundation for learning guitar.

4. www.ultimate-guitar.com- This site has thousands of guitar tabs from various artists that show you what chords to use for some popular music. There is also a section called UG Community where people can post blogs and throw around ideas. Sometimes it is good to talk to people that have been learning the same things you have so you can get some good tips.

5. www.guitarnotes.com- This site is all about chords. It has a chart that shows up to 1200 chord positions. This may seem a bit overwhelming, but it can act as a good refrence and is easily printable.

Thanks! My daughter is taking private lessons. This can help her out when she is on her own.
