On the table you will see some numbers are black and some are red. Betting on black and red or odd and even gives you the best winning chances, however they are only a 1:1 payout. You bet 10, you win 10. Your chances however are almost 50/50. I say almost as 0 and 00 are green and are not considered odd or even. If you bet 10 on black or red and 10 on odd or even, you will lose half of your bet if a 0 or 00 comes up. 1-18 and 19-36 are also 1:1 payouts. You are betting on the number being between 1-18 or 19-36.
1st 12 is a bet that the number coming out is going to be 1-12, 2nd 12 is betting it will be 13-24, 3rd 12 is betting it will be 25-36. These payouts are 2:1; if you bet 10 you win 20. The other line bets are betting on the 1st line straight down the table-1,4,7,10,13,16,19,22,25,28,31,34. The 2nd line is also straight down the table 2,5,8,11,14,17,20,23,26,29,32,35. The 3rd line is also straight down the table 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27,30,33,36. These are also 2:1 payout. The line bets have a good chance at winning as you are betting on all the numbers in that line.
The biggest chance is betting on the numbers. Betting on a particular number is a 35:1 payout. There are other variations to betting on numbers. You can bet across 2 numbers. Say you wanted to play 16 and 17. They are next to each other on the table you can lay a chip down between 16 and 17. This is a 17:1 payout. You can also a chip on the corner of 4 numbers. 11, 12, 14 and 15 are numbers that share a common corner. If a chip is placed on the corner and one of these numbers came up, it is an 8:1 payout. 3 numbers in the same row can be played also. Say you wanted to play 10, 11 and 12. If one of those numbers came out it is a 11:1 payout.
There is always a minimum bet for the table, a maximum bet too. The lowest I have seen is $5. What this means is any bet outside of the numbers (black, red, odd, even, 1st 12, etc) must be a $5 bet. If you are betting on a black and even you must put $5 on black and $5 on even. Same goes for all outside bets. However if you are playing numbers, you just need a total of $5 across the numbers, maybe $1 on 13, $2 on 24, and $2 on 23.
Here are the basic rules and payouts for roulette. It is a fun game but make sure you know how much you can spend before you walk up to the table and stick to it!
