Learn to Salsa Dance with Free Online Dance Videos

Salsa dancing is all the rage - a fun, energetic dance form done to upbeat latin music. Classes, Social Parties and Clubs for Salsa dancing can be found in all major cities, and even some of the smaller ones these days. But if you are not near a class, or simply want to try some beginner Salsa steps on your own, the internet provides plenty of opportunity to learn.

All you will need to begin Salsa dancing from the comfort of your home is a clear space on a floor (preferably a hard surface) and a dance partner. You can even learn Salsa without a partner at first, though you should expect things to feel differently once you are working with someone.

For a very basic explanation the Youtube user "DanceClassVideo" has posted three introductory videos. They explain the Basic Back Step, Basic Forward Step and Basic Side Step. The instructor is quite easy to follow and understand, and the lighting is done nicely in the videos. Once you understand the basics, there are other instructional videos from other users to help you progress.

The user "Apersaud" has a channel that provides 19 Episodes of Online lessons (the first five are listed under the you tube ID godfather). The videos start with very basic moves and gradually advance to more complicated moves. Anthony Persaud and Melanie Rivera, the couple that demonstrates the steps, are easy to follow. Anthony usually speaks and Melanie is there to help with demonstrating. Often they do the steps from different angles, which is helpful when you are trying to learn. Though listed as "instructional", he does not actually speak during the videos or explain the steps. If you are able to learn simply by observation, or already have a basic knowledge of Salsa and want some reminders, his videos may be helpful. The music is traditional Salsa and fun to listen to. The main dancer wears black most of the time, and his pants are baggy, so seeing the movements of his legs is sometimes difficult.
