Sewing is the kind of hobby that can give you an sense of accomplishment and improve your wardrobe at the same time! If you'd like to add sewing to your list of hobbies, there are a couple of things you'll need to get started:

Sewing Machine
I recommed the Singer Prelude for beginners. You can set up your machine, thread it and your bobbin in no time with the instructional DVD that comes with it. The Singer Prelude comes complete with additional pressure feet, sewing needles, bobbins and a cleaning kit. It's very afforable too.

Sewing Kit
Your kit should include a pair of bent trimmer scissors, 100 straight pins, a pin cushion, a thimble, a 60" measuring tape, a sewing guage, a packet of hand needles, a seam ripper, one white and one blue marking pencil and a needle threader.

I recommend the Singer Beginners Sewing Kit, it can be purchased at your local Target store.

Additional Essentials
Here are a few more things that will come in handy, and may not be on the top of your list:

  • Sturdy table
  • Comfortable chair
  • Good lamp/lighting
  • Ironing board
  • Iron
  • Water Bottle
