Excellent learning software for the PC:
Reading Rabbit Math and Reading PC: These are great at home games to play in place of watching TV or playing traditional video games because they are interactive, entertaining and reinforce what the child is learning in school. This is a great interactive game for 4-6 year olds. It will build a strong phonic and basic math foundation that will create easy learning in the school setting.
Reading Rabbit First Grade through Reading Rabbit Sixth Grade: These are great learning games that emphasize math skills per grade level as well as vocabulary, science, history and reading.
These games are only sold through retail store or on-line. The Learning Company no longer has a website for ordering products on-line. Google search Reading Rabbit with the grade that you are looking for and various sites that sell these products will be available. The prices for these great games start from under $10.00.
My family has experienced great success with Reader Rabbit learning PC games. My son was adding double digits in his head in kindergarten and much of the addition skills that he learned were through the Reader Rabbit games.
Hand held Learning Games:
The Leap Frog Leapster is a great hand held game for children four through seven. The Leapster has many available learning games and includes children themes such as Dora, Thomas The Tank Engine, as well popular Disney Movie theme and characters. This is a game that I have personally watched children play with for hours. Ours was passed from our older son to our second son and then to our daughter. This is a great investment at around $65.00 new. These are sold at Walmart and Target. The Leap Frog website sells them directly to the public as well on the official Leap Frog website.
The coolest new hand held game that is a great learning tool and entertainer is also by Leap Frog. Its for ages eight to eleven. It is the Didj. This game is a great replacement for the PSP and the DS hand held games that are so popular. The Didj can actually help the children with their current spelling list which can be added through the games interaction with a PC computer. These games include theme characters such as Batman, Hannah Montana, Sponge Bob, etc. These game systems come with one game at average about $80.00. The games for the systems can also be found used on-line through ebay.
The Crammer is also by Leap Frog and is for eight to fourteen year olds. It is true to its name "Crammer" and is a study tool. It is a very practical price at $40.00. It can also work as an mp3 player and play downloaded music. This game also can help study Spanish. Check this out for hours of study help for your child. Each of these Leap Frog games can be purchased at www.leapfrog.com .
There are many resources available for fun learning at home and on the go. These are just a few of the best items available. These games will enhance your child's math and reading skills. They are worth the investment and save much time in drilling math combinations and language skills.
