Learning to Live in a World of Stress and Staying Healthy

Tips for Staying Healthy in a Bad Economy

KB
In this economy, with money short and stress the number one cause of sickness, I think we should all just take a moment to take a breath and realize life is only as hard as you make it. My husband and I recently lost our business on June 24th and I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer on March 29th. I have learned many things to stop the stress that was making both my husband and I sick.

1. Take a moment just to go outside and sit and visit with your neighbors, have a neighborhood barbeque, invite friends and family and just relax and enjoy the moment.

2. Buy a dog or get a dog from a shelter, they are great stress relievers. They come with lots of love and affection.

3. Take a vacation if you can, forget about things at home and enjoy the scenery.

4. Get involved in your church or join a church.

5. Volunteer, it always feels better when your helping someone else.

Through these hard times in this economy, I have learned to enjoy many things such as writing, reading, crocheting and photography. They are great stress relievers and good for keeping you active and healthy. We have learned that there is only so much you can do, we pay the bills we can and talk to our creditors to keep things going. Hopefully one day this economy will turn around, and our country will be financially stable again. But until that day we just need to remember to stay healthy and as stress free as we can.
