Learning to Maintain Weight Loss is Key

Maintaining weight loss is tricky. You can't starve yourself and eat nothing. And if you do eat too little, your metabolism will slow and you'll be so hungry that you'll break your dieting plan. The best thing is to cut 10% of your calories and make healthier choices. And that includes making time to work out.

Exercise is better than an antidepressant and it can cost about the price of a good pair of sneakers. Even if all you did was run, or even walk and do weight training at home, you'd be well on your way to keeping off the weight you lost.

When you do work out, you will be improving your heart and muscles and feel better. But you have to make sure you get enough protein in your system. Don't think that cutting out protein will help you. If you don't get enough, you might lose muscle, or brain function or eat too much sugar as a result.

I used to not get enough protein and it really makes you feel miserable and you don't really know why. You try to eat healthy with lots of veggies and fruit and whole grains, and then you eat too much sugar because you don't know you're missing some protein.

Now I make a habit of eating an egg in the morning, beans and rice for a meal, and get in protein by eating nuts, cheese, and regular meat throughout the day. I feel much better. Its amazing, I've lost 55 lbs so far. And I haven't gained any of it back. I intend to keep it off by working out regularly. I do about 23 minutes of cardio on the elliptical trainer and work out with weights and when I don't get to the gym I try to walk half an hour or so.

So if you want to maintain you're weight loss, remember you have to change the way you eat and exercise. Some people can eat anything and not gain weight. Most of us need to work at it though. It is worth being healthy, even if others don't understand that you just want to feel better. I know some people turn to drugs to feel good, but exercise and a good diet is key to feeling your best.

Lets keep moving America, and keep off the extra weight. The only thing you'll miss is a little time watching TV.
