Learning the Rules of Cruising - Part 2

S. B.
It's time to get out there on the trusted sea with your significant other, or entire family, for the cruising experience of a lifetime. But as with any other vacation, it is important that you learn a few rules that will keep you from struggling through unnecessary hassles. So before you book your vacation, sit back, relax, and learn a few rules that will make cruising easier than you could ever imagine.

Choosing Your Cabin

Choosing your cabin may not seem like a major issue when booking your vacation, but if you don't choose the right one for your trip, you will definitely wish you had. This is because every cruise ship is actually a boat with engines and an anchor (I know, duh, right?). And while you notice this detail while enjoying the casino, or a great buffet, you will if the boat arrives or departs from a destination in the middle of a good sleep, and you are awakened by loud thuds and roaring motors. It is for this reason that many frequent cruisers suggest that you book a cabin in the middle of the boat. This way, no matter what official boat business is going on underneath you, you'll never be disturbed by it.

Learn What "All Inclusive" Means

While all inclusive usually means that the majority of your cruise ship amenities have been covered in the cost of the price of the vacation, there are instances where all is not covered. For example, on one ship, all inclusive might meant that you get free alcoholic beverages, free room service, free casino privileges, while on another you might simply get the free buffet various entertainment features. So definitely be sure to determine exactly what all inclusive means. Because it would not be good show up lacking the money you need to truly enjoy your vacation.

Don't Expect to Spend Cash

As a new rule on many casinos, it is customary to use a card that the ship distributes to passengers upon arrival. Similar to a credit card, you use their card rack up charges during your stay. Then you simply pay your balance at the end of your vacation. Many cruise lines are using this system to eliminate the need to have their workers handle cash. But of course, using this card will mean that you will need to keep tabs on your purchases so that you don't accidentally overspend.

Before you book your first cruising vacation, be sure to take this rules into consideration. That way, you won't be blind-sighted by any information that affected your ability to have the best vacation possible.
