In order for children to learn effectively, all the fundamental learning skills have to be functioning optimally.
The first step to help a child maximize their learning potential would be to identify any barrier or sign of weakness in their learning skills.
Parents should look out for a dislike in reading and going to school, having trouble following instructions, not being able to sit still, poor attention span, confused between left and right or slow in copying. Try to understand these issues and resolve it in the shortest time.
For example, what begins as a problem with recognizing letters could lead to problems with problems in recognizing words and further manifest itself as a problem in reading and comprehension. This could lead to frustration, restlessness and social behavior problems such as low self esteem, withdrawal and shyness.
Parents who notice such signs or behavior should send their child for a comprehensive evaluation with a trained professional to evaluate the child's leaning skills.
When underlying causes and weaknesses are properly identified, then the appropriate teaching techniques, specific educational services or programmes can be carry out to help the child to learn effectively and efficiently.
Parents should also communicate with their child more to learn their problems. A good relationship between parents and their children can be build via healthy communication among themselves. Don't ever neglect them. Show them your love and care. Encourage and praise them for their good efforts, to build up their confident slowly.
Teach them how to have fun while in the learning process, to make the result more positive to them. Don't put pressure or stress on them in the learning process.
Remember, the child learning skills are first and foremost evaluated before any of the brain enhancement programmes to help the children learn better, faster and find their confident in school and society.
