Life without getting enough sleep is no fun. Life without getting enough sleep can make you more than tired. You don't feel like concentrating on things, even things that you love. It makes you dream about bed and sleeping during the best moments of your day. It makes you annoyed at yourself and others around you. It makes you feel older than what you are. Plus, it wrecks havoc on your looks.
But what can you do if you find yourself having trouble sleeping night after night. What can you do if pain is disturbing your sleep? Try these tips and see if they help.
- Take up mediation. Mediation may help you relieve some of your daytime pain. This may mean you can go without less medication during the day, thus the medication may work better at night. When you mediate, concentrate on one object and try your best to push those negative thoughts out of your mind.
- Take up yoga. Yoga can be an easy exercise on the body and the joints. It can also be a great way to relax your mind. Plus, the stretching can help loosen those joints thus help reduce pain in the long run.
- Limit those afternoon naps. Yes, those afternoon naps may feel great. Yet, they can interrupt your nightly sleep. When you feel that you must have them, limit them to no longer than twenty minutes.
- Take a walk when you feel tired during the day. Instead of taking that nap during the afternoon, try going for a walk. It will help wake up you and will help give you an endorphin rush that may help you stay awake until night.
- Take a hot bath before bedtime. Try taking a long hot bath right before going to bed. It can help relax your body and your muscles. It may even help you go to sleep quicker.
- Run a fan or some other device quietly in your room to drown out background noises. If background noises such as the sounds of the streets or noisy neighbors disturbs you at night. Try running a fan. Concentrate on the sound of it and you may find yourself relaxing until sleep soon arrives.
If none of these tips helps, talk to your doctor. He may want to adjust your medication or prescribe more pain medication at night. What you don't want to do is continue night after night, without sleeping properly. It can harm your body, mind and your relationships.
