Home made options can be another method of choice. Lemon juice and some cream of tartar has been found to be a good cleaner and will work very effectively if done correctly. You make a paste of the two ingredients and work it into the stained area, if it does not work the first time, you will have to wait a bit and then try it again with more paste. Water spots need to be dealt with in a different manner. Take a cloth and apply a bit of water to the spot and let it dry. This should work well. Never leave leather in the sun to dry! This could ruin it forever!
To remove the elements that contact your leather goods, such as salt, a mixture that contains half water and half vinegar. Place a cloth that has been put into this solution over top of the area that is salt covered. The cloth will help to absorb the salt away from the effected garment. Mind you that this is usually not complete the first time it is done and the process may need to be repeated quite a few times before you have the results that you want.
To keep leather looking at its best applying special oils to them will help prevent damages that can occur. Another remedy that is known to work is to use 1 part vinegar to 2 parts of linseed oil that has been mixed very well. Use a soft cloth to put this on the leather garment.
Removing suede from a leather item is another area completely. A gum eraser can help to do this if applied to the spot. If the results from this are not what you were after then you can try white vinegar. Again you will need to use a soft cloth doing this. Make sure that you blot it completely when finished and never rub any leather aggressively. It can cause irreparable damage to the item.
There are wide assortments of leather products that can be purchased at stores that will help revive the beautiful look of your leather items. They will help keep them looking there best and have all been tested before being put on the market. They will help your leathers look like brand new again, regardless of their age.
