Leaving the Know Behind

Donna Cavanagh
When we have done just enough with our lives
We are tempted to close the door
For the known is there, what else could we want?
We have safety and comfort - how could we want more?

It is so easy to let the known be our best friend
It brings security or so it might appear
But when we reach beyond the comfort zone we create
We find a new life of possibilities - not a life of fear

Staying only with the known can destroy our lives
The known steals our dreams and potential
We need to look forward beyond what we see
New paths to follow for life is essential

Do not get caught up in the trap of the known
Reach instead for what you have yet to see
You have dreams waiting for the chance to breathe
Dreams hoping for a chance to be

very inspiring...sometimes, it's difficult to reach past the known into the unknown and see what could be there. We don't realize that it could be a blessing. We only know that it scares us because we can't always see what it is yet. And we also don't realize that if that unknown isn't a good thing, then there's always the known, still there to comfort us...sorry, I'll hush now :) Great poem.

I'm with Tracie. Its hard to leave your comfort zone and take risks. Blind faith is still faith just the same. Rewards go to those who are risk-takers. I needed this Donna.

The unknown is merely on the other side of the door. Cheers.
