LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade All in Miami?

The New Dream Team?

The Polymath
Even though LeBron James has not made the decision to leave his hometown team of the Cleveland Cavaliers, there is no doubt that having an opportunity to play alongside All Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh is a almost irresistible temptation. According to several sources, LeBron James tops the list of free agents that the Heat is working hard to get in the summer of 2010. On the other hand, the Chicago Bulls are also considered by many to be the leader of the free agent market.

Despite all the rumors and reports about LeBron James's next destination, the Cleveland Cavaliers still have hope, or even an edge, in keeping the king. While in the wild west, the Dallas Mavericks and their enthusiastic owner Mark Cuban are also waving cash to LeBron James. Nonetheless, as of today's situation, it is not hard to see that James, Wade and Bosh did get together to discuss their future. These three All Stars and arguably best current players in the league came into NBA in 2003 together. There exists a probability that they would win a championship together.

Even though it has been widely speculated that LeBron James and Chris Bosh had secretly agreed to play with Dywane Wade in Miami, even Wade himself is not sure whether the Heat would be able to get both James and Bosh and in the meanwhile sign an extension with him.

In order for the Heat to have enough cap space to get these three All Stars together, the Heat management has to give up Michael Beasley to another team for almost zero return. The Nets, another contender in the 2010 free agents market, had just dumped Yi Jianlian's contract to the Washington Wizards for almost nothing in return. Would the Wizards be willing to help Miami in dumping Michael Beasley? Without pulling out such a deal, there is no way Pat Riley and his Heat will be able to give out three max contracts.

However, reports from ESPN have indicated that James, Bosh and Wade all believe that the contract problems can be solved and that them being on the same team is still a possibility. For example, it is possible that two of them will get max contracts while the other will willingly get less money for a chance of playing on this dream team. If Bosh is able to get a sign and trade deal from the Toronto Raptors, all the problems would be solved. However, as the Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo says, Bosh will very likely not sign with the Raptors.

The Chicago Bulls, on the other hand, remain a very possible destination for LeBron James. With Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah as the core the Bulls are ready for the championship after acquiring one or two top free agents. The New Jersey Nets, however, will get the first chance to sell their pitch to James. With all star Devin Harris in the back court, all star caliber and young talent Brook Lopez up front, the former coach of the year Little General Avery Johnson at the sideline and almost $30 million under salary cap, they are ready for a possible dynasty under their new owner Mikhail Prokhorov.
