LeBron James Takes to Twitter to Tease Fans Before Big ESPN Announcement Tonight

Right now, only a handful of people in America know who NBA free agent LeBron James will pick as his team to play for next season, and James is enjoying his big day by teasing fans on his Twitter account.

At this point LeBron James has been courted by the Cleveland Cavaliers, (his hometown), the New York Knicks, (his best friends Beyonce and Jay-Z have been pitching him for the team) and the Miami Heat, (who many NBA insiders think will be his team choice). The big announcement is expected to happen in a live primetime news conference on ESPN tonight, July 8th at 9PM EST.

With so many potential teams pulling out all the stops to get you, who wouldn't want to have a little Twitter fun?

LeBron James has been worried about his choice being leaked to the public before tonight's big announcement and opened his own official Twitter account Monday so he could try and control the media and leave this a surprise for his fans. He reportedly hasn't even told close friends.

Thursday morning, LeBron used Twitter to invite feedback from fans by tweeting, "Good Morning! It's your chance to ask me a question about my decision, use #lebrondecision to submit and I'll answer them tonight."

Officials for LeBron James said the Twitter account is his and he will be taking questions and hopefully chatting with fans and supporters up until the big announcement.

But, amid the standard replies of "stay in Cleveland!" or "come to New York!" and many, many foul-mouthed insults from sports fans elsewhere, The Washington Post is reporting many people on Twitter have tweeted general sarcasm, with tweets like:

Question: How do you keep an idiot in suspense? Answer: I'll tell ya later.... #lebrondecision

Have you crossed over from regular villainy to cartoon super-villainy? #lebrondecision

I'm gonna watch #lebrondecision tonight just in case Kanye interrupts to remind us that Jordan was the best basketball player ever

And the Gary Busey parody account that tweeted:

To be honest, I'd only watch #lebrondecision if he decided to get a sex change and play in the WNBA.

The NY Post is taking bets as to whether people won't care when the announcement finally happens or shut the website down the way users did when Michael Jackson died.

But many sports fans have weighed in and said they think the Lakers will destroy LeBron James next season regardless of where he ends up.
