Lee Dewyze on American Idol 4/27/2010 Show: Top 6 Performances

How Did Lee Dewyze Do on American Idol Tonight?

Kay Balbi
Lee Dewyze performs on American Idol Tonight 4/27/2010 however competition has heated up - Shania gave good advice, maybe Lee should have followed it.

Lee went first tonight on Idol and he did a pretty good job after being coached by Shania Twain this week. He sang, "You're Still the One", as he played his guitar. I like Lee's gruffness and I think that Ellen DeGeneres comment that he reminds her of Bob Seger was right on.

Lee was told by Shania to slow it down because it was a love song and she wanted to feel the emotion coming from him as he sang the song. She had him put away his guitar and sing it with just a piano accompaniment. I wonder what it would have been like if he had decided to leave his guitar behind.

Lee still rocked tonight, and I struggled with my votes - the competition is getting hot. I thought for sure Aaron would blow it tonight but he did well, and so did Casey James. That kind of shook up my votes and it put Lee at number 4 with my votes. He's been running in the top 3 or 4 and tonight he showed that he was an artist, changing it up a bit but after reviewing everyone's performance I thought Aaron and Casey were better for the guys.

Lee has a career in music if he wants it. He still needs a confidence boost, and he learns to smile a bit more. Kara DioGuardi loved his smile, whereas Simon commented that he thought his facial features were a bit weird during the song.

Randy said, "This is one of my favorite songs of all times, and you found your sweet spot and did a pretty good job of it." Ellen said, "You did better than a pretty good job. It always sounds like your version and you couldn't look cuter. I say all aboard the Shania Twain." Kara said, "The sound of your voice makes it sound so relevant. Look how far you have come. That's a love song and I don't know if you related to the love portion and you cracked a few times so maybe you were feeling it. Simon said, " I agree with what everybody said. It was the perfect song for you."

Enjoyed your review but I must correct you in that Shania Twain told Lee to start the song without the Guitar and he did, like she said. I think Lee's performance was better than the other performaers. Crystal's performance was not good (I think she was to preoccupied with her boyfriend being there). Casey and Michael are both singers with monotone voices. Casey can play a mean guitar but I don't like his singing. Aaron did do a very good job and I believe he may give everyone surprises to the final but my votes (all 400-600) are on Lee. We will see how it goes.

I really think Lee is cute and his studio versions are even better than his live performances. I don't get why he's still so awkward on stage. Still frightened. :D
