Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox Steal the Show Again During March 30 American Idol Show

Lee and Crystal Continue to Set the Mark for Every Singer on American Idol

This may have been one of the best mentoring shows that I remember seeing in years past. There were some performers that were doomed from the start with this niche, but this was a true chance to shine for the rest of them. I knew Didi was going to struggle this week, but also looked forward to Andrew Garcia getting back on track. Usher did a fantastic job and gave many of these promising artists excellent guidance. It was nice to see one of these "mentors" actually give them meaningful feedback and not just sidestep their challenges.

Siobhan Magnus - Okay, enough with the screaming already. I for one was glad Simon made the comment about being bored of hearing her scream because I had enough after the first week. She lost me at hello when she walked out on stage in that ridiculous outfit and it never got better. Instead of hearing her at the top of her lungs once, we got to hear it twice in this little ditty. She will be in the bottom three this week.

Casey James - I am kind of mixed about his performance, but it is tough to deny that the guy can sing. For me, there has just not been that earth shattering performance that would make him special. Every time I watch this guy I feel like I am at Brownie's listening to Fuzzy Bunny Slippers - great cover band, but where is the originality. However, the bottom line here is that his vocals and looks are going to carry him into the final five.

Michael Lynche - I buried him last week for being cliché and I stand and applaud him for an incredible performance this week. His vocals may have been shaky at times, but the performance was captivating. This was exactly what he needed to get back into the race and has once again solidified himself as a top three contender.

Didi Benami - It kills me to say this, but she was horrible last night. This was a genre that I expected her to have trouble with and she pretty much fell flat on her face. This is just not her thing and while she will reside in the bottom three this week, here's hoping that her past performances and fan base will get her enough votes to keep her around.

Tim Urban - Can we please get this guy off of the show already? Just another horrible performance from someone that should have been kicked off the show weeks ago. The teenyboppers keep burning up the phone lines to keep him alive, but this may finally be the week. It will be between Siobhan, Didi and Tim and I think Tim has finally run out of his nine lives.

Andrew Garcia - Thank you Usher! He literally took him under his wing and got him grounded again. This guy has such a smooth voice and when he is on, he can be deadly. If he can keep the momentum rolling after this week, there is little doubt that he can be a top five contestant.

Katie Stevens - This is the first week that I was actually able to take her serious as an artist. Her pipes were roaring on Tuesday night and I thought it was her best performance yet. To be honest, I was perfectly surprised that she managed to carry off this genre, but she may be able to get into a groove now. People can finally look past here being 16 and take her serious as a singer.

Lee DeWyze - Wow! This was the performance of the night. There is little doubt that this man has a huge future in the industry and to me seems as though he is ready to take the professional stage. I can honestly say that I would pay to see him in concert right now. He is polished, has incredible vocals and puts on a great show. Lee is the real deal and it would be a crime to see him get ousted anywhere but the season finale. It should be between Crystal and Lee and either of them is a worthy Idol winner.

Crystal Bowersox - The piano playing in the beginning was great, but she definitely had to concentrate far too much for her to have put it into her act already. However, it was great to see her up and moving around afterwards and while it was not her best performance, it was my favorite that she has done so far. She is another one that is locked into a huge career and one of the few singers this season that I look forward to watching every week.

Aaron Kelly - What an awful position to be put into. Following either Crystal or Lee is tough, but to have to come after both of them is asking for trouble. I am still not sold on this kid and he continues to appear like a child singing adult songs to me. This was one of his weaker vocals, but it was enough to get him through. He probably has one more week, maybe two depending on the genre that is chosen before he gets booted. His time is short though.

So there you have it, Lee and Crystal rocked and Siobhan, Didi and Tim laid some eggs on the stage. I'm crossing my fingers that we can finally get rid of Tim this week, but it would not surprise me to see either Siobhan or Didi get the boot. For some reason, this kid has a huge fan base and he manages to sneak in there every week. My guess is that his luck finally runs out and he is sent packing.
