If you are looking for a place that you can lift weights, go swimming, watch television, get something to eat, shower and check your e-mail, then you need to check out my gym - the Leeward YMCA in Waipahu on the island of Oahu. I know all of these things do not sound like something that you can do at a gym, but they are in fact things you can do at the Leeward YMCA.

The facility is brand new and has an entire weight room that would make any bodybuilder drool. It has Olympic weights and benches for all conceivable exercises like the bench press, incline bench press or military shoulder press. There are also a ton of machines that work the smallest muscles like the calves to large ones like the back. You can spend hours in there and not even get to half of the machines.

Directly across from the machines are a buffet of treadmills, elliptical trainers, bikes and more. What is the kicker here? Each one has a TV connected to it that allows you to watch anything on cable television. Want to watch EPN while you bike? Now you can. Want to watch Oprah while you jog? Now you can as well.

Head on down to the pool and do some laps to cool off or head back to the lobby area to get something to eat. When you are done, be sure to take advantage of the free towel service and take a shower in the locker rooms. Once you are finished there, head back to the lobby and grab a table and a complimentary cup of coffee and fire up your wireless internet on your laptop. You can finish any work you need to get done, check your email or just surf the Internet until traffic has thinned out enough for you to head home on the freeway.

Any way you see it the Leeward YMCA is not only the best place to work out at on Oahu, but is also one of the cooler places to hang out before and after your work out, as it allows you to do so many other things like use your computer or jumping in the pool. And don't fret if you are not a member. If you are a member at any YMCA, you can use the facilities, just talk to the membership director and they will work something out for you. For price and accommodations nothing comes close to the Leeward YMCA.

    Aloha

I'm interested in swimming, and I'm wondering if the Waipahu site allow women for open swim?
