Game Play-
In Left 4 Dead your mission is simple, to survive. You must pick one of four characters, which do their best to stick together during the countless zombie hordes. Each character has their own unique personally when it comes to speech during game play and various calls for help. Randomly around areas of the campaign in Left 4 Dead, players will find various items to assist them.
During game play you will notice that doing certain things will attract large numbers of zombies. Randomly placed around the world you will find boss monsters, which almost seem to be inspired by characters from films and other video games. All zombies themselves are very fast moving when they notice you, and all creatures in this game can bust down doors to find you.
Features-
Left 4 Dead features a great co-op game play mode. Players can either play on-line or split screen with friends. Interestingly enough, there is a game play mode in Left 4 Dead that allows players to pick between playing as one of the undead creatures, or one of the survivors. Needless to say the person that picked playing as the undead creature is on a mission to kill the survivors.
Another great feature of Left 4 Dead is the AI system. Every time you start a new campaign every single undead creature will be in a new spot. This ensures that every time you start the game something different will happen. For example, when playing the demo you may notice a horde of zombies destroying entire walls to kill you, and other times you won't.
Creativity-
Anyone playing Left 4 Dead has to admit that this game is pretty amazing. It's fun enough playing in single player seeing as the scenario's last up to 75 minutes but consider the playability you get from multiplayer features. Left 4 Dead is probably going to be one of the best selling games released from Valve, so expect them to release later versions and downloadable content.
Improvement-
While Left 4 Dead is a very fun game; it does have some room for improvement. The game needs more weapons, and more interaction with the environment such as things you can use to barricade yourself with. Also, Left 4 Dead could really use a system in single player to order around the computer companions so they follow you and such.
Overall, give Left 4 Dead a chance. Be sure to check out Valves bundle pack, which includes Left 4 Dead and their most popular games for $99. With this game, it seems that zombie horror is here to stay.
Final Score-
9 Out of 10 (10 Being the best, 1 Being Worst.)

Post a CommentI LOVE 'Left 4 Dead'!!!!!!!!!!! A friend brought it over and I was afraid it was "just another zombie killing game" but it's not. It has very little to no story line but everyone loves it. My husband and I play it all the time, friends come over just to play it with us. We even had a "Left 4 Dead' night last Saturday.
Great article!
I am still holding it down with PS2.
Nice review!
