Left 4 Dead Xbox 360 Review

I have been a huge fan of the zombie genre for some time now ever since I was a kid. I have seen countless movies, read books and played almost every zombie game I've come across. There are many zombie games that I think are good but there is only one zombie game that stands out from all the rest, Left 4 Dead.

Let me explain what Left 4 Dead is. It is a ruthless, no holds bar, zombie game that no matter how many times you play it, you keep wanting more. Left 4 Dead is a pure first person shooter with amazing control with third person cut scenes. There are a couple of different ways to play the game, campaign co-op and single-player mode. In both modes a player(s) control one of four survivors; Francis, Zoey, Louis or Bill. There not much of a back story of how these four survivors teamed up or how the zombie outbreak came to be, the game starts out of no where placing you in the road to survival. There are four maps/areas that you can play, No Mercy, Death Toll, Dead Air and Blood Harvest. Each map/area has 5 chapters with the first 4 chapters ending inside a safe room. The final 5th chapter ends with a last stand and a rescue. Each map/area never plays the same, all zombies and items spawn in various places and various times, giving the game huge replay value.

Left 4 Dead also has a versus mode which players take turns as survivors or zombies. The goal of the survivors in the versus mode is to make it into the safe zone. The zombies goal is to stop the survivors from reaching the safe zone. The game can take place in any of the four maps/areas and each side switches after one side's goal is met. The versus mode is of the funnest head to head first person shooters I have ever played online. It is very fast paced and team orientated.

Now that I have explained a little about what Left 4 Dead is and has, here is what I truly think of the game. The game is the best zombie themed game to date, at least in my eyes. The game-play is fast and always changing. I have played all modes and they all are very exciting. The online co-op mode is full of teamwork and the versus is insane. The graphics are smooth, sharp, and displays the post-zombie world perfectly. The sound in the game brings the world to life and when playing in the dark with friends, it can make you feel uneasy, for those that play should know the witch sound by heart. I have stayed up all night playing Left 4 Dead with friends, its very easy to lose track of time.

Left 4 Dead has set the new standard in zombie video gaming. I am looking forward to playing the expansion which is to be released soon. The game is already addicting, the expansion will only add to it. This game is on my top list for Xbox 360 video games. This is one hell of a game!

I highly recommend this game for all zombie fans.
