Leftism is Not in "The Best Interests of This Nation"

Snidely Whiplash
Yesterday morning on Fox one of the talking heads said of Attorney General Eric Holder "he has the best interests of this nation" (paraphrased) as his motivations with regard to the flip-flop on terror trials held on US soil versus being held at Gitmo. What a load of crap for one to have to swallow so early in the morning. This is concern for the "best interests" of America? What an asinine statement. Of course the utterance was made by Democrat attorney Peter Johnson Jr, a Fox contributor and legal beagle.

I am sick to death of granting the left any premise that the things they hold dear; their screwy ideas of society, economy and government are in fact noble and actually have "the best interests of this nation" at heart. Let me define this more clearly for those swayed by such leftist claims.

This nation is far from perfect but not nearly so that it requires a complete "redo" from the bottom up to correct any imperfections we may have. To grant the left, Obama, Eric Holder and that crowd of radical progressives any of their premises as merit worthy is to give them leeway they do not deserve. How can anyone be so ignorant as to actually believe the "I have the best interests of the nation at heart" BS that falls from the mouths of the left as they go about their daily chores of undermining the nation.

Newsflash!!! The left does not like how this nation is constituted and run. They demand change by hook or crook and have said so with their words and actions. Any pretense to "the best interests of the nation" is either a foolish uninformed person blithely accepting the leftist pronouncement or a leftist themselves trying to paint their desires as equal to traditional Americana. Again, yes, they have the right to hold stupid positions but that right does not bind me or anyone else in accepting it.

More radical and motivated progressives have read Alinsky. They know Van Jones is right when he advocates "losing the radical pose to achieve the radical ends." (paraphrased) That means stop being violent in the streets and go undercover. Stop being so dangerous sounding and go into stealth mode in order to fool the fools and not appear as dangerous as their desires are. Radical lefties know their 60's efforts of riots and violence will be rejected so instead it's look mainstream all the while working behind the scenes to achieve the same ends the radicals in the 60's worked toward. Nothing has changed except the words and dress of the threat. The threat remains the same.

The desired ends are the same. The dislike of tradition; the dislike of capitalism; the hatred of the restriction the Constitution places on government and the desire to be a socialist nation at the very least. And to once again demonstrate how misguided and wrong headed these radicals are, they still want this despite the mountains of evidence form Europe that social democracy does not work in the long term. These radicals are so wedded to their desires they cannot see the empirical facts of economy and society, or they just want that they want because they actually believe as Barack alluded to, "we are the ones we've been waiting for."

I do not believe die hard leftists have the nation's best interests at heart, at least in any traditional definition of the phrase. I believe many of them think capitalism is bad and needs to be destroyed as they have said so a million times before. What part of destroying capitalism is a sound and wise investment for this nation? To want to destroy a central underpinning of the nation may be in the leftist best interest but not in the actual best interest of the nation.

Every time one hears such nonsense uttered remember the desired leftist end is nothing most Americans want, but lefties know there are legions of disinterested and uninformed who will buy into their fallacious talking points.

I think they should hold the trials in the U. S., military tribunal or not. Guantanamo is a damned international disgrace. Besides, we've tried hundreds of terrorists in the U. S., jailed them in the U. S., and, so far, and as hard as it is to believe, there hasn't been a rash of escaped terrorists upon the land. I understand the problem with having 9/11 connected trials in NY, but that's why we have change of venue laws. Try these people. Put them either in Leavenworth or one of the Supermax prisons (like the one where Ted Kaczynski is in) and put the entire issue to rest. It is truly that easily done. People get all bent out of shape over controllable issues. The only reason this crap hasn't already been done is because Bush and his dimwitted Constitution-hackers couldn't figure a way out of their idiotic abrogation of both U.S. and international law. Now, Obama is perpetuating the idiocy...

"Those swayed by such leftist claims" aren't reading your article, Whippy, nor watching Fox News. Yeah, they're out making the world safe for democracy.
