LeGarrette Blount Reinstated by Oregon Ducks and NCAA
Oregon Decided to Reinstate Running Back LeGarrette Blount for the Final Three 2009 Games
LeGarrette Blount has missed the last eight games for the Oregon Ducks after he threw a punch during a game between the Oregon Ducks and the Boise State Broncos. Oregon found his actions to be unacceptable and suspended Blount indefinitely from the team. The NCAA didn't step in to take any action on their own after Oregon made the suspension, and now that Blount has missed eight regular season games, both the NCAA and Oregon feel that he is ready to come back to the team for the remainder of the season. It's LeGarrette Blount's senior season at Oregon, so it will be good to see him at least get to play out his career on the field rather than the sidelines.
LeGarrette Blount has really served as a huge distraction for the Oregon Ducks this season, and it will be good to see that distraction put behind them now. The Ducks still have a chance to win the Pac-10 Championship this season if they can pull it together quick enough, and having LeGarrette Blount on the active roster can only serve to help them in that goal. Some might say that LeGarrette Blount isn't even the best running back on Oregon anymore, as his back-up has really stepped into the spot-light recently. Having an additional weapon on offense though can help any team win some ball games.
There was probably a lot of work being done behind the scenes by LeGarrette Blount in order to fulfill team requirements on fixing his behavior, and earlier reports has stated that he would have to meet certain academic and behavioral conditions if he was ever going to be reinstated to the team. He seems to have been able to meet all of those requirements, and now the Ducks are ready to have one of their star players back on the team. LeGarrette Blount will need to watch his step for the rest of the season, as there will be a close eye kept on any actions he takes on the field. If he can continue to play clean, he could see his stock rise and potentially wind up on an NFL team next season.
